The 'power up when AC comes back' needed to be set to 'on' in the BIOS

PS. while I was poking around in there I found lot's of cool stuff like the
current motherboard temp., fan rpms, hardware status and other machine
feedback. anyone know of a utility that will show me this info in gnome or
kde?
