I have a similar setup which worked fine.
you might drop into the SCSI bios on startup and poke around the settings.
hit ctrl-a when it gets to the scsi part
I don't remember the installer asking for specifcs about scsi devices. it
said 'do you have any?' I clicked yes and it found the 2940 card loaded the
driver and we were off and running.
my cdrom is IDE. it could be that installling from a scsi cdrom makes the
whole installation process to act differently
if someone else on the list does not have a better answer I would look for
an IDE CD drive (rip one out of a friends computer when he's not looking ;-)
) and install from that.
