Yes, the first time I ignored F1 and went into graphical install
mode... which did not work for me. I got the nice Penguin/Mandrake
logo, but then the next screen was screen hell. This is probably
because it was an old 14" zenith monitor I picked up for $20.
I am installing 7.1 on a Celeron 433 w/128M Ram (2 for video).

Second attempt I used F1, and then entered "vgalo expert mem=126M"
and this worked. The vgalo installation is still pretty nice.
One problem was that my generic PS/2 mouse was not picked up and
so I had to start over with a different one (newer).

DiskDrake was nice to use. See my next message regarding detection
of my *two* network cards.

One MAJOR peeve I have is the individual selection of packages such
that the screen is not wide enough to see if the option is selected
or not. Mandrake, please make the display window wide enough, or
put the checkboxes on the left-hand side instead so that it is
noticeable. I really appeciate having good descriptions of the
packages showing up to allow me to decide if I need/want them.

After 30 minutes selecting packages, and the install process
completing, it was time for cryptography. Since it appears that
networking was not setup properly using DHCP from @home service,
I was not successful in this area. How do I post-install these ?

I was prompted to save partition info on a floppy and did so.
Can this be used on another system to duplicate the same setup ?
Would it still work (partition sizes) if it is done on /dev/hdb
instead of /dev/hda in the first place. I want to duplicate the
setup as backup on a second drive of the same or different machine.

I was also prompted to save a "fileset" of the packages I selected
(I think). Does this mean that I won't have to spend another
30 minutes to install the same packages on another machine/server ?

Thanks... Dan.
