I did all that but then gave up and put the 3c509 card in the win98
(kids) box. It installs on win98, I set IP to local 192.168.1.2
but winipcfg/ipconfig show 0.0.0.0 instead. I don't get it !!!
For my LM7.1 server problem, I placed the D-link PCI first and then
put a 3com 900B-TP PCI in the second slot. This whole thing was able
to recognize but not activate eth1 or have network access. I gave up.
I then removed them both, booted up, installed the 3c900 first and
let it be known as eth0, setup linuxconf and then ok. I rebooted after
installing the D-link into the second slot and it came up ok as eth1
and I set it's IP to 192.168.1.1 (server). The 3c900 uses DHCP to
get the IP from my cable-modem ISP.
I can now access the internet via eth0 (3c900), but I can't ping the
other machines (not surprising with win98 problem above). This includes
the win-NT/linux machine set to 192.168.1.3 which shows up ok with
ipconfig, and it can ping itself. It cannot ping the server ...1
or vice-versa. For both the NT and 98 machines, I set DNS to the
ISP values but set a local IP. I know the new D-link NIC in the NT
works because I am using it now to connect to the internet after
I plugged in my cable modem here to check. What am I doing wrong ???

ISA is still useful since I was able to install my old ISA SupraExpress
Modem with no problems, and then able to check my mail.
Thanks... Dan.
