I don't agree at all. I have been using the same k6-3 400
for more than a year, no problem whatsoever (with VIA MVP3
chipset). I am unable, though, to duplicate his problem,
but my CD-RW and CD-ROM are both SCSI, I think I noted
that SCSI is more stable than IDE on the whole ...

Well although I use Mandrake I never used supermount
(disactivated it right after install), I don't need that
and have had problems with it, especially on floppies ...

If this changes anything the culprit is more likely
the chipset than the K6-3 itself ...
