Thanks Eric for the tip... I checked but no luck... I wouldnt think that would
be it only because when I am in Mandrake 7.0 it doesnt blank on me.... The
screen saver works as expected.  Its only when I go into Mandrake 7.1 this
happens....

I dont know... I figured as a test, I would try and run KDE screen saver and
see if I get a simlar problem in KDE...
