[expert] Gnome Screen Saver

We recently installed Air, 7-0.2  and set up Gnome/Enlightenment. When I
log on as /user and go to X, I frequently see four screens: the
herringbone, the solid blue, the /root enlightenment screen and last, my
/user screen.  

This is much different than Venus and KDE where when I logged on as /user I
saw the X herringbone screen and then my /user screen. 

Can anyone explain what's going on?
