No, I didn't remove the "1". Hoyt suggested that in his email, and
I'll try that later tonight.

I used "cfdisk', which was supposed to be a better alternative ti
"fdisk".

No, there is only Linux on both of my computers.

That I can do without too much problem. I have everything  important
(along with my cutomizations),  tarred and gzipped on another drive.
I could re-install from CD-ROM, then re-install my backup. It's just
time-consuming...
