It is safe to install 7.1 on i810 but you DO have to play with the settings a
bit. i810 is still cranky or it was on a NEC Powermate 2000
As far as upgrade from 7.0, that is relatively safe after reading the doc on
the new menu structure and preparing to set up customized settings for the
software you may have added.
Sound for the i810 works out of the box on 7.1
