my laptop instantly resumes from a user or system standby command.
I have apmd-3.0final-6mdk and pcmcia-cs-3.1.14 under Mandrake 7.1. I've
tried fooling with the kernel options uder apm, but nothing seems to
stop this. I am wondering if something is misconfigured and the system
stays active immediately after the apm --standby command, hence waking
it up within 00:00:03 seconds. I'm using a Gateway2000 9100.

Also, the suspend comand kills my x-windows, and has been under every
distribution I've used (RH5.2, 6.0, 6.1 and Mdk 7.1)--when it wakes up
from the suspend, the x-windows are all screwed up, but the mouse and
keyboard still work. the only way to suspend succesfully is to quit X
and do the command from runlevel 3.

I care much more about the standby problem than the suspend problem.
