IDo the following as root:
rm -f /var/gdm/*
This will wack your server's MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE.
Now go to your user's home directory and type:
xauth -ib
exit
Now startx as user.
This solves the problem for one boot. After that you have to do it again. I
haven't found a "long term" proper solution yet.
Let me know if you solve the long term problem.
