I just installed it using KPackage, received the same dependency error, but
just deselected the "Check Dependencies" option after verifying all other
dependencies were satisfied (OpenSSL, etc...)
Downloaded and installed the following RPMs in the following order from
ftp.sunet.se/pub/Linux/distributions/mandrake-crypto/7.1
openssl-0.9.5a-3mdk.i586.rpm
openssh-2.1.1p3-2mdk.i586.rpm
openssh-server-2.1.1p3-2mdk.i586.rpm

Subject: [expert] rpm version and OpenSSH
Hi folks,
I'd just like to repeat Jeff Groves' problem below. Installing
OpenSSH is one of the first things I do when bringing up a UNIX box.

I just tried to install the latest version of OpenSSH
(openssh-2.1.1p3-2mdk.rpm) and it gives me the following error:
rpmlib(VersionDependencies) <= 3.0.3-1 is needed by
openssh-2.1.1p3-2mdk
Why would this require an older version of the RPM installer? The
version
that comes with Mandrake 7.1 is 3.0.4-0.
I have not had any problems installing any other programs and until
OpenSSH
was updated recently, I didn't have any problems installing it either.
Any solutions besides reinstalling an old version of the RPM installer?
Jeff Groves
