This message is to the Powers That Be(PTB) of this list.

Recently, the list has been receiving pointless ravings, rantings, and
flame baits insulting and putting down Linux in general and the excellent
distribution of Linux-Mandrake by a certain list member who goes by
Mallard. Mallard([EMAIL PROTECTED]) goes on ranting streaks about why he
hates Linux, how everyone with a life should be using a GUI, and making
false statements about a lack of progression of Linux as an Operating
System. These unnecessary and inappropriate comments only cause wasted
band width, flame wars, growth of tempers, and well educated and needed
*nix experts/gurus to think badly of the newer generations of computer
users, and to ignore and/or completely stop receiving mail from the list.

One idea to fix the Mallard problem is by digitally moderating messages
from certain individuals that tend to be a problem. Messages from these
users could be automaticly scanned for certain words, then discarded, with
held for manual moderation, or sent to the list depending on what the scan
found. Another solution is starting a new list. This list could be for
insults and rants against Linux in general or a specific distribution,
whichever the user feels the need to complain about. Since only users who
dislike Linux in the first place will be using this list, it won't need to
have any useful/educated community members watching it, thus not as much
activity will be on the list. This method would also take some of the load
off of the Expert and Newbie lists. This new list could be called, in
tribute to its reason for creation, Mallard.

While the PTB are listening, I would also like to inform them about some
problems the list its self have been having. Many messages sent to the
server are duplicated for some reason. Some messages are received by the
list immediately, but some are delayed from 5 min.(which is expected) to
several hours. Some never make it at all. When something is sent to the
list, an Undeliverable message is sent back to the originator of the
message, regardless of whether the message actually made it to the list.

I sincerely hope the PTB will consider the problems and suggestions
presented, Jason Pierce <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
