Ok Mallard. I believe you. Everyone is entitled to a good old rant now
and then. I shouldn't have been so short and off the cuff with you.
Please forgive me and let's try this again.
Hi...my name is Mark. And while it appears that you're having a real
rough time with mandrake 7.1 I haven't experienced any of these
troubles. I'm sorry that you are. Maybe the differences are that my
system is mostly a 'mutt' system where the hardware is mostly
standardized with few specialized parts. Which I'm told can give folks a
real fit when attempting to install Linux, and Linux mandrake on their
machines.
I did out CPA's laptop the other week. Most of the install went well
till I started trying to get the video working correctly. That really
challened both my patience and my technical knowledege of Linux and
computer hardware. I spent 3 1/2 hours before I got the display correct
at an 8 bit color depth and another hours getting to display 16 bit.
Still haven't gotten the sound to work, and the modem is a stinkin
winmodem so I know for sure that's out-a the question.
All in all though he's really liking it and I, even though for a time I
was REALLY frustrated with the whole thing, learned a lot that day about
Linux that before that I didn't know.
