After much T&E, I cannot get my cd-writer to burn ISO images. After reading
than man pages for cdrecord, the version supplied with the Mandrake ISO(which
incidentally I burned when I was running a MS system) doesn't seem to support
IDE/ATAPI drives. Running cdrecord -scanbus only nets the info that I have a
Zip drive at so and so interface...nothing else. Upon visiting Freshmeat,
I note that IDE/ATAPI support seems like a new thing for cdrecord in the
current version, which I can't get to function yet. However, I am relatively
new(a little more than a newbie, but not quite expert, the newbie list is
usually a dead end for questions like this) to LM 7.x...is there a way to get a
i386 RPM to run under LM7.x....rpmdrake doesn't seem to acknowledge the rpm
extension...I really would hate to have to re-install a MS system just to have
ISO burning capability. I note that all the rpm's for LM 7.x are marked
i586...if someone could enlighten me on why this difference exists? Might be a
dumb question, but I need an answer.
I suppose I could try to compile the source...save me some time...will that
even work?
