Can anyone hazard a guess why this happened?

I download the entire folder of Linux-ix86-glibc21 from the current dir at
ftp.XFree86.org to a local dir named /TransFers. So the long name would be
/TransFers/Linux-ix86-glibc21/<subdirs and files>...ok. So I reboot into windows
to burn some ISO images out...I'm done, I reboot into LM 7.x and my Xserver will
not start Only error message is "Cannot find default font: fixed"...I'm at a
loss, what did I do???? So, I go back and wipe that dir out. That's all it was
a dir with the Linux-ix86-glibc21 subdirs and files in it, un-installed,
unmade, etc, etc...I reboot, and X starts right up with no error output. So why
did that dir affect X? Can anyone hazard a guess? /TransFers/ is meant to be a
dir I use as a holding spot for files I work with under root, a file is usually
only there for a week or less. Currently there are two iso images residing there
and they aren't causing any problems.
