[expert] DNS and Gateways

Hello everyone,   I've got a small home network (2 machines).  I want to set my linux box up to be a gateway, how do I do this?  I didn't do the "Server" installation.  If I were to do that, would that let me set up things such as DNS servers and Gateways?  I just want my DNS and Gateway to be 192.168.1.1.  Sorry for the easy question on an expert list.  :)   Best Regards, Tyler Longren
