All are necessary for my systems.
The Win98 machine is the host and is connected to a dual boot Win2000
system, and a Linux system both of which share its internet connection.
I have a PCI modem which is used for back-up only. The primary connection
is with a USB DSL modem whih neither requires or uses a NIC.
