well from what little specs you listed i say yes. i think most notebook laptops are compatible now adays if you see a simular computer on a listed site then i would say your chances are high however three main things will get you, modem, video card, and sound card, like for me i have a toshiba satellite 1675cds it uses 64 mb ram, 6 gig hd, ati rage lt pro, conexant winmodem and a crystal fusion sound card, in my case modem is a winmodem and currently has no winmodem drivers, as well as my sound card is currently not supported, there are many sites you can find your coputer to possibly be listed linux.com has an extensive list of hardware and computers that are compatible with linux, one of the main reasons i bought my laptop because a simular model was listed i just made a mistake of not checking for modem and soundcard issues. best of luck to you In a message dated 20-Sep-00 04:04:42 Central Daylight Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: << I'm going to buy a laptop, and one possible choice could be the Nec Versa (or Versanet, I don't know the exact name) Vx. It is a PIII500 with 64MB RAM, 12GB HD and 14.1" display. Anyone knows if Mandrake 7.1 or 7.2 installs on this laptop? I've already looked at the linux on laptop website, but this model isn't listed. I'm waiting for more detailed informations about the graphic card and sound chipset from the local reseller, but it would be great if anyone had already tried something with it. >>
