First of all, thank you the both of you for the answers. I eventually managed to find a more detailed datasheet for this laptop, and it turned out that it includes an ati rage-class graphic card and a "compatible sound blaster pro" sound card (though the chipset is not listed). That given, I'm reasonably confident that it will not be so difficult at least to start the X xerver.
