Hi Everyone,

I've purchased a new Gateway E5400 and forgot to check the IDE
chipsets used. Well, they've switched to the Intel 820 chips, in
particular
the PCI components are all based on the 82801AA controller (for the bridge,
ide,
etc.). I went to install 7.1, and the kernel hangs when it begins
the PCI probe. Anyone else run into this? Gateway had been shipping
these with the Promise controller, and everything went smoothly with
the 7.1 install. As an additional gotcha, I successfully installed on a
system
that uses the 82801AB controller (Intel has two, and from what I gather,
the AB is the ATA/33 variety, while the AA is the 66). Any hints?

-Bill
