I'll give it another shot since no one is thus far willing to peep at all about it. Maybe this time? When I try to build the glibc-2.1.3-16mdk or glibc-2.1.3-17mdk src rpms from cooker OR mandrake 7.1, I get LOTS of repetive errors about character 45. Here is an past from my konsole during the latest build attempt: scripts/move-if-change: invalid character 45 in exportstr for full-config-sysdirs/bin/sh: invalid character 45 in exportstr for full-config-sysdirs scripts/move-if-change: invalid character 45 in exportstr for full-config-sysdirs /bin/sh: invalid character 45 in exportstr for full-config-sysdirs scripts/move-if-change: invalid character 45 in exportstr for full-config-sysdirs/bin/sh: invalid character 45 in exportstr for full-config-sysdirs scripts/move-if-change: invalid character 45 in exportstr for full-config-sysdirs/bin/sh: invalid character 45 in exportstr for full-config-sysdirs scripts/move-if-change: invalid character 45 in exportstr for full-config-sysdirs / This invalid character message occurs NUMEROUS times again and again during the build, to the extent that it even outnumbers the number of lines that show actually successful and proper compilation. What is this? I am running Mandrake 7.1 which I am slowly upgrading to 7.2/cooker level, but then, glibc-2.1.3-17mdk is from the 7.1 version while glibc-2.1.3-16mdk is from cooker (go figure THAT). ONE of them should be cool for building, one would assume. Anyone? Anyone have any insights? Suggestions? praedor
