I'm trying to post-add an NFS server to my machine (7.1).

I add a line to the /etc/exports :
/mnt/cdrom *(ro,insecure)

And manually fire up rpc.mountd and rpc.nfsd
However, I can not host any nfs systems , even from the same host (using
localhost as remote host name). It keeps telling me there's no
response, yet there's a daemon running (ps -A lists an nfs daemon and a
mount daemon)?

I noticed no nfs lines in my inet.d file, is this OK (you'd think since
the daemon is running it should be?)

Any suggestions (I'm trying to advertise Linux as a method to mount CD's
for our remote servers from the comfort of your own desk....)

Cheers

Eric
