I have everythign working.. Infact setting up NIS/YP on Mandrake (7.0 and
7.1) machines was a breeze!!.. it was such a pain with NT...

Why do you need a makefile for ypbind? The RPMs are there...


this is my fstab entry for mounting NFS
vfs1:/usr/people /usr/people nfs defaults 0 0

if u try to run 
mount -t NFS server:/mnt/dir /mnt/dir

make sure that your machine IP is there in the exports directory of the
server... else u'll never be able to mount. NFS can only be mounted on IP
addresses given to the server.. so u have to make changes to server to get
NFS going on u're own machine.. I am sure u're missing that!
