I've burned some 400 CD's with linux (Mandrake) with SCSI emulation compiled in
STATIC and cdparanoia/mkisofs+cdrecord/cdrdao.

CD writers used:
RICOH 6200 SCSI 2x2x6x
Waitec(Philips) IDE 4x4x24x
YAMAHA SCSI 4x16x
Plextor IDE 8x4x24x

compile with
- scsi emulation
- scsi cd support
- enabel vendor specific extensions
- scsi generic support

and without
- probe all lun on each scsi
- cdrom ide support

bye
