These are the things I think I need... from a newly installed Mandrake 7.1 please... copy of /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg and a directory list of any other files that should be there. directory list of /var/lib/urpmi grep cdrom /etc/fstab Why? I have deleted my /etc/urpmi/urpmi.cfg file in various attempts to tweak how rpmdrake works for me. I can no longer use rpmdrake to install distribution CD rpm files. It works great for local... After all my work, urpmi.cfg does not seem to be being built properly when I try to re-add my distribution cd's to the database. In my varied attempts to fix the problem, I have tried updating rpmdrake and all other supporting files to cooker versions, but have ended up backing down to the 7.1 distribution versions for everything. I've even tried totally removing all related packages and freshly re-installed them. I've churned through the urpmi.* scripts in /usr/sbin. Are there known problems with adding removeable media , specifically, CDROM media, into rpmdrake? So far I seem to have reconstructed the /var/lib/urpmi/list.* and /var/lib/urpmi/hdlist.* files, as rpmdrake properly reports the installed packages, and correctly reports the packages on the distribution CDs -- though when I click to install, it reports that it is unable to find the named package. rpmdrake never seems to hit the CD anymore. It won't ask for the CD when I install a package that came on the distribution CD. BTW, regarding being unable to add my distribution CD's to the rpmdrake database, If I add a CDROM location, it asks for a name, goes off and appears to do something, but never seems to add the files in. Well, I guess that's an oversimplification. After much travail, though perl challenged, I figured out that urpmi.addmedia was apparently looking for the pre-made bz2 files on the Installation CD in Mandrake/base, so I eventually made out that I needed to have the Installation CD in even though I was adding files from the Applications CD. Despite this, though the packages appear, once again, I am unable to get them to install from the CD... I am stymied as to the source of the problem. I know I changed the CD mount entry in fstab - I think from a supermount to a manual mount only, so I suspect that may be part of the reason, but, I am also quite sure that urpmi.cfg is not right either. I pinged the newbie list on this issue some time ago with no useful response... Thanks in advance for any help. Kevin R. Bulgrien
