Larry Marshall's comments made me rethink my assumptions about the printing problems I've had with WPO 2000 Deluxe. Thank you, Larry. The key phrase was that there's nothing to do if printcap is set up correctly. This rang a bell, and upon checking, I discovered that Mandrake 7.1 "secure" leaves /etc/printcap mode 600. Naturally, a user process like WP can't read it, and, therefore, can't set up printers. So, if your printers ever disappear in WP, verify the mode on /etc/printcap.
