Hello.

I am trying to use the gnome desktop on 7.1. I cannot get the gnomePPP dialer
to work to save my soul. When I hit the connect button, it immediately pops up
a window that says "PPP daemon died unexpectedly" after about twenty times,
you would think it would start expecting it. I have tried to set all the
parameters of the account, in all ways feasible, and tried it with root.

The root will dial out and login but disconnect just as fast. Looking in the
message log, it indicates that my machine wants the remote host to authenticate
its self (which my isp really hates!). How do I turn off this desire to have
the host authenticate its self? How do I get gnome ppp to work as a normal
user. In linux conf the ppp0 account is set to let all users (de)activate the
link.

I finally got connected with kppp, but I feel like a traitor. I have used KDE
and want to try something new. I think kppp works because it doesn't need to
use the ppp0 account in linuxconf.

And if you don't mind another question, what is a good mail client similar to
kmail, that will work with out making our magically inclined friends mad?

Sorry for the disjuncted feel of the post, but my brain is laying somewhere in
the den quivering from exhaustion and fear pixels forming the word "Error"

Thanks,

Ivan
