The same thing happened to me. The problem is not those missing deps that you overruled though, the problem is that the original update RPMs issued by Mandrake do not contain the proper PAM support (oops?!) for you to authenticate (it seemed mainly to affect users with md5 passwords, I was able to login as a user who did not have one). You need to get the updated update packages for ssh and get them installed. Hopefully you are better off than me, I successfully locked my self out of remote machine with those packages, just got it fixed today ;) I'd still like to know what 'update-alternatives' is as well, however. -- Jon Changnon - Freelancer e: [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.dncc.net
