I figure that by now you have already seen the revised openssh advisory
from Mandrake, so it is a problem with the PAM configuration, as someone
else has noted. grab the new update (if you haven't done so).

You were already answered that update-alternatives comes with the rpm
package. However, this is really easy to check:

go to http://www.google.com/linux and search for:
rpm update-alternatives

or:
rpm mandrake update-alternatices

to give atvantage to mandrake packages.

Note that in that case the easier solution:
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/update-alternatives.html

does not work in this case.

Those should appear in the FAQ.

One other thing: The main rpmfind.net repository only contains the recent
versions of Mandrake, as well as cooker. It would be very helpful to have
an rpmfind repository that contains only mandrake packages (and thus you
may get less noise) but will also contain older versions. 

Just a suggestion...
