Do a hdparm -i /dev/hdxx to get information about your drive so that you know what it supports. Also make sure what kind of DMA your hdd controller handles. But in all likelyhood you shouldn't have a problem. I have experimented to death with hdparm on both of my hard drives and have never experienced any kind of data corruption. -Chris
