Hello out there!
I have some problems getting X4 running on an Notebook.
The installation ran without any problems and DrakX
found the Trident 9525. It correctly started the X Server
test during installation, but after rebooting the machine
I get only a gray screen (not the gray X background, an even
gray) and the pointer doesn't appear.
I didn't find any hints in /var/log/messages, /var/log/xferlog
or /var/log/xdm_errors so i'm wondering what might be wrong.
The X start script mentions a broken pipe at stdout, but i can't
find the reason.
Is there any known issue about that? I installed the Mandrake 7.2
Power Pack Edition for the first time, and i didn't have any
problems on my workstation using the download edition.
Some information about the notebook : PII - 366, Trident 9525 at
an 800x600 tft display, es??? (don't remember it right now) sound
Chip (correctly found and working), pcmcia II ...
Mandrake 7.2 Power Pack installation : Expert installation Mode,
no network (might it be that?) X4.0.1 / Trident driver...
