There are two possibilities:

1. In /etc/cups/cupsd.conf there is a "FontPath" variable, try to enter
directories there with the fonts you need. I don't know whether this
helps, it is possible that the CUPS renderer (which is written to work
under nearly every Unix) does not support TrueType fonts.

2. Use the "CUPS+GIMP-Print" (they use the CUPS renderer) drivers only
for photos and graphics, install a second queue for your printer where
you use the "Foomatic + stp-4.0 (GIMP-Print)" driver. This queue will
use the original GhostScript and print exactly how "gv" displays the
file on the screen. So this is the best driver for office printing
(documents with text).
