I'm using Mandrake 7.2 and a PCI Banshee.
I installed the latest version of UT last week. Works fine in software mode,
but a little slow.
Accelerated is another matter. Speed seems okay, but it looks terrible.
Really messed up transparencies and the like.
I had to comment out some the features in the ini file to get it to work at
all using LibGL. Also, it only works in the
demo it plays in the beginning, it won't actually start a game. All the
OpenGL games that come with Mandrake work
fine accelerated now. Not sure what I did that fixed it, but I run
1280x1024x16, and everything works accelerated,
windowed and full screen. Now that I think about it, I think I relinked
libgl and installed pmesa to try and speed
up mesa with my dual processors.
BTW, anybody looking for a cheap card that does a great job with 2D and high
res, the Banshee PCI cards are a good solution.
2D acceleration is very nice under Linux, no more stutters when I scroll in
a window.
Plus, they do decent 3D. I'll probably upgrade to a GForceMX when I get
tired of it, the price to performance ratio is
looking unbeatable right now.
