Do a clean install! Depending on your laptop, your mileage may vary. I
recently installed MDK7.2 on my laptop (Compaq Armada M700) and I was
pleasantly surprised.

My wheel mouse was recognized instantly, DVD-rom was OK, X was setup correctly
(ATI Mobility RAge card and 1024x768 generic LCD panel). Sound worked out of
the box, I can use diffrent network profiles for home and office, even my
winmodem was recognized, and I was advised to go to www.linmodems.org for more
conf info.

Works great!

Good luck; Viktor
