It is. The fact that all your other Linux "systems" are mounted
on "/" can't be made true in relation to your Primary OS and its
associated fstab. You might add the following to your Primary OS's fstab:

/dev/hda5 /mnt/LM7_0 ext2 noauto 1 2
/dev/hda6 /mnt/LM7_1b ext2 noauto 1 2
/dev/hda8 /mnt/debian ext2 noauto 1 2

>From your Primary OS, which in this example would be your LM 7.0a (hda9),
you would just type # mount /mnt/debian , (say), to have access to all the
filesystem on /dev/hda8.

Notes:
-Choose your options very carefully. Automounting the whole mess just
  might get, well, messy!
-I'm not 100% on the weirdness that the various usernames, passwords, and
  permissions might produce.
-It is a good idea to mount "Other" filesystems under /mnt for various
reasons (convention, backup strategies, etc) I won't get into here.
-If you want to access all partitions from any OS system, just use the
same /mnt ideas above, keeping in ming that any given "system's" fstab
will indeed be different. For any given "OS system" boot, the *other*
"systems" should be mounted under /mnt (IMHO) as specified by the booted
  OS's fstab.

Perhaps someone else can help with Grub. After 4 years of Red Hat I just
made the switch and haven't had to wrestle with Grub yet. Sometimes after
reading what everyone else has had to say, a $ man [whatever] can empart
a truly enlightening experience. :-)

And if I've got something terribly wrong up there, I trust it will be
pointed out,

Cheers
Dave.
