I have a bulk internal CD-RWriter , that gives that error too

Amusing , my HP7200 by parallel port works really fine with cdrecord ... This
could mean that the internal writer is just broken?
BTW. I'm using Mandrake 7.1 with a custom 2.4.0-test10 kernel
Any ideas about what to test next?
