I noticed that X seems to be slowly growing in memory usage though my
usage of X hasn't changed much. I have a habit of leaving my dedicated
Linux box in X for months at a time with 8 virtual terminals and I
typically have 12 to 25 windows / terminals open at once. I don't have
exact numbers, but it seemed that under mdk 7.1 with the older XFree86
(3.3.x) under similar usage for 76 days X took up <= 25% of 256 MB.
Under mdk 7.2 with XFree86 4.0.1 after 32 days X is taking up 51% of 256
MB with 17 windows / terminals open. (The percentages are reported by
top.)
I browsed around the XFree86 site (www.XFree86.org), but I didn't find a
bug list. The closest thing that I found was a new feature list for
XFree86 4.0.2.
One question that I have is where is the bug list for XFree86?
Another question that I have is are there known memory leaks with
XFree86?
