I have a mitsumi cr-4801te CDR and an asus cd-s500/a CDROM. Here's the
output from cdrecord -scanbus:
0,0,0 0) 'MITSUMI ' 'CR-4801TE ' '2.01' Removable CD-ROM
0,1,0 1) 'ASUS ' 'CD-S500/A ' '1.2C' Removable CD-ROM

I used /dev/scd0 and /dev/scd1 which were already there.

The entries I set up in my fstab are:
/dev/scd1 /mnt/cdrom2 iso9660 defaults,user,exec,noauto,ro 0 0
/dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrom iso9660 defaults,user,exec,noauto 0 0

I use the desktop icons to mount and unmount my cd's. I have them set up w/o
supermount. They point to /dev/scd0-1 and mount points of /mnt/cdrom-2 both
with a filesystem of iso9660.

In my append line for grub I have:
hdb=ide-scsi && hdd=ide-scsi
Check out Ron Stodden's post yesterday (Christmas). It's where I got good
advice from.
