This sounds a bit like what I get when I use the CUPS "HP LaserJet 4050,
Foomatic + stp-4.0 (GIMP-Print)" driver for my HP LaserJet 4050. I've had
very little success with any of the CUPS 4050 drivers and I'm using "Generic
Postscript" now.
