This might depend on which version of Oracke that you are trying to
intsall. The latest & greatest (8.1.7, Oracle8iR3) installs without a
problem on Mandrake 7.2. I have heard of 8.1.7 having problems with the
glibc version shipped with Redhat 7.0 however.

Oracle products on my system include
Oracle 8i R3 (8.1.7)
WebDB
Developer6i

Of these, the only one that gave me any problems during the install was
Developre. It seems that lesstif is not completely compatible with modit,
to solve the Developer installation problem, I needed to uninstall
lesstif and install openmotif. Since then everything works great.

Prior to installing 8.1.7, I had 8.1.6 installed. This also went in
without any problems also.
