Hello all, this may be a newbie question, but I need help!
My modem is there, the serial port is configured, but Linux won't talk
to it? I have a USR Sportster 33.6 modem (ISA) hardwired to Com2 IRQ3.
Onboard serial 2 is disabled in the BIOS. The port, ttyS0 is configured
properly on boot.
setserial -g /dev/ttyS1
returns the following:
/dev/ttsyS1, UART: 16550, Port: 0x02f8, IRQ: 3
I can tell DrakConf and Kppp to use ttyS1 and all I get is "Looking for
Modem.." then "Sorry, the modem doesn't respond.
I have been through every HOW-TO and Configuring ppp document I could
find, still - no joy. Does anyone have a quick and dirty list of config
files to check to see what is up.
ifcfg-ppp0 is configured OK, /etc/ppp/peers is empty?
is there an alias I need to set?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
