Windows 2000 really doesn;t know too much about MBR's etc. I couldn't
get it to install on my drive (which had had 3 OSs on before) until I
put linux back on. It just couldn't boot after the end of the first
stage!

That could actually be a BIOS message. Have you tried booting from a
floppy? If you get the same message, it's the BIOS. Check that your
drive settings in the BIOS are correct. (I have seen BIOS settings
change on their own, so check, even if you think they are correct)

I'm on 7 hours so far, and no-one else has pitched here yet - it's
still 6am! That's what happens when your mail server decides to only do
local deliveries ! It seems to work now.
