First, yes Mandrake's update works quite well.
Like you I did have a problem with the latest update to cups. Cups needs the
libcups1-1.1.6-2.1mdk package. For whatever reason a large number of the update
sites does not have this on the download folder. I had to go to some site in
France and download and install this package after I screwed up my system by
forcing the installation of cups.
