Hmpf.  That is exactly what I did.  Development and expert mode.  I 
essentially installed all development libs, headers, etc.  

The last time I tried to build kde source was with an early 2.1.  It failed 
like the previous attempt with 2.0.1.  I suppose I can try again with a more 
recent src.rpm set.  I didn't relocate anything.  The only additions to my 
system beyond what 7.2 provides are some specialized tk/tcl devel libs for a 
few specialized scientific apps.  This should in no way affect kde though.
