Nothing but problems for me so far.
I downloaded the 2.4.1-9mdk kernel and built that. It built fine, installed
fine, etc. I can even boot it up but my ethernet card doesn't work with it,
even when I compile the driver into the kernel (3c900 card). During bootup,
there is a message indicating that it is being assigned an IRQ, what it is,
whole frame transfers, etc. What doesn't happen is getting an IP address.
After bootup, if I run "ifup eth0" it immediately says [Failed] without the
slightest hesitation.
I also build the ppa module for my zip drive. With the 2.2.17 kernel, it is
fine and mounts but it simply doesn't recognize the zip drive with the 2.4.1
kernel. I get error messages concerning /dev/sda4. Did the dev naming
convention for the parallel port zip drive change with the new kernel? Is it
no longer /dev/sda4?
I am now attempting my 4th build of the 2.4.1-9mdk kernel source. The last
one, unlike all the others, functioned as if it was on a system with 8 megs
of RAM instead of 128 MB. INCREDIBLY slow - all the other builds I've tried
have booted and run VERY quickly.

Against stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain.
