[expert] kernel 2.4.1

Hello there,

Can anybody tell me what the benefits are, upgrading to 2.4.1. My 
2.2.17 performs reasonably well, so why try?
This is not intended as a pun but a serious question, I just don't 
want something new solely because it's new (reeks of Micros..t)
