My personnal belief is that if Redhat is cake, Mandrake is ice cream and
cake.

I suggest removing the 2.4 that was installed and compile 2.4.1(as 2.4.0
does have support for ReiserFS built it. Installing and compling 2.4 is
probably something I'll do myself this weekend(after my local LUG
;-)....almost forgot make sure you have modutils-2.4(it think that is
the version number) or greater.

It may be because Mandrake is doing a reverse lookup on them. Try
putting then in your /etc/hosts or run Linuxconf, under Network -> Name
Server Specifications uncheck DNS is required.
