David, what I proposed was an alternate way to install Your Mandrake. BTW
having an Compaq Armada 4160T without CDrom, that way worked fine for me, and
right now I have installed a raw Mandrake 7.2 with all the actualizations
straight from internet.

At Linux Documentation Project http://www.linuxdoc.org You will find all the
documents You might need. Check in Your /usr/local/doc or
/usr/share/doc/HTML/en directories also.

I would like to reccomend to check http://www.linux.org/hardware/laptop.html
and the links they offer at the end of that page.
