Hi John,

Here's my list so far:

1. When installing a fresh Mdk 7.2 distro always run MU asap and update MU and
grpmi right away. Exit MU and restart before any more updates.

2. Always run rpm --rebuilddb after a large update session.

3. Try to update smaller numbers of items (even singles if dependencies allow).
This helps keep the MU database state in good repair and saves plenty of d/l time if
there are issues.

4. If you have a package(s) that MU won't update due to dependency issues, then
go back to the console and issue rpm -e from the commandline and remove the packages
manually.

5. If you have a package in MU that supposedly needs updating but has already
been updated, the only way to remove it from the MU listing is to go to the console
and remove the package manually, then re-install off your CD or from an ftp server.
Next time you run MU the item will correctly update and disappear from the list.

6. Run MU from a terminal (issue MandrakeUpdate) rather than from DrakCOnf.
Leave the terminal window open so you can see what messages are being written while
you update. This can assist debugging.
